The Littlest Pixie

February 2025.

Self-Directed Children’s Picture Book

Inspired by my own struggles with perfectionism and neurodivergence, I wrote The Littlest Pixie picture book to show children that they’re good enough as they are, their contributions are valuable, and it’s okay to ask for help. The story follows a tiny pixie with wings too small to fly, who’s restless to prove himself by doing something big! By attempting to pick berries alone, he ends up in a couple of pickles before discovering just how much he can achieve with a little help!

Application.

The illustrations were used for the front cover of my picture book's dummy copy and as part of my illustration portfolio. I am currently developing illustrations for the book's interior pages.

Technique.

The illustrations were initially sketched with graphite pencil, coloured with watercolours, and detailed with coloured pencils. Each element was then individually cut out and arranged on a watercolour background.
